Filling House Roles and Building Abandoned Homes

Hi everyone! Here’s what we’ve done so far this week…

We’ve been doing some work on validations, particularly on our social networks page. We’re added some instructional text here as well to make things a bit more clear.

We’re working on setting up “Roles” for the House section. This way you can assign titles and duties to your friends and fellow house members, or move people down to the room in the basement if they’re not pulling their weight.

We’ve added many new screenshots and some concept art to the media section. We have a bunch of new 3D models in the queue that will be making their way to the page this week too.

This led us into a couple different discussions. The first was a need to start including a game prop of some sort into pictures to give people a proper idea of scale. Many of our buildings are quite large with huge interiors. For example, the Thorcon reactor seems much more impressive when you realize that it is approximately 67 pineapples high. Second, we talked more about the idea of having a catalog of all game items with stats and descriptions. The team discussed the realities of keeping all the information and statistics for each item in the game synced and correct in the catalog. In addition we talked about whether we would just use stock images for items or if we’d include every possible modification: scopes, clips, and bayonets for rifles for example.

A lot of environmental work was done this week. As you can see from this shot from along the beach we’re getting there even though the trees could still use a little work.

While we think this is a great underwater shot there’s still some lines running through it that we need to work out. We don’t photoshop any of our screenshots because we don’t want to show you anything that looks different from how you’d see it while you’re playing. This one was close but ultimately didn’t make the cut in the gallery.

Our houses and ruins are starting to look really good as well. This looks like the kind of place that’s too creepy not to explore in real life or the game.

That’s it for now. We’ll have more updates soon.
